Garlic For Your Immune System
As a physician I can tell you maybe you should cut back on the caffeine, alcohol and nicotine. The same for white stuff like refined flour and sugar. But what about the stuff you never consider that you are subjected to?
The nuclear powers have conducted more than 2,000 nuclear test explosions (numbers are approximate, as some test results have been disputed): in the United States there have been 1,054 tests by official count (involving at least 1,149 devices). 219 were atmospheric tests as defined by the CTBT. Because of this states like Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado have higher than normal levels of Uranium in their soil.
Did you know Autoimmune conditions are much more prevalent than people realize? AARDA estimates that autoimmune related conditions afflict over 50 million Americans! These are conditions covering the Brain-Gut-Brain axis, “leaky gut” and “leaky brain” barriers, gut microbiota and much more. Allergies and impaired immune responses show their symptoms in many ways.
So what can you take for this? One of my favorite supplements is odor free garlic.
“Garlic is one of my favorite supplements to take for helping the immune system.”
I had asthma as a small child growing up in rural Minnesota. There are 5 white blood cells related to your immune system and the eosinophil count is the one related to allergies and asthma. A normal level should be less than 5. Mine was 21. The MD’s put me on prednisone, which knocked it down to 17. After researching, I took a garlic supplement that knocked my eosinophil count down to a normal range of 5.
Garlic is an amazing anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal supplement and also has cardiovascular benefits.
How much do you need? It varies from person to person. It is not just a guess. It’s no different than putting duct tape over the speedometer of your dashboard and guessing you are going 40 to 55 on a major cross street. A cop pulls you over and go figure.
Bloodwork doesn’t lie. Start with a foundational assessment of your blood because a 200-pound man needs a different amount than a 100-pound woman. Factor in prescription medications that leach nutrients out of your body.
At my practice we test to establish a ground zero, recommend supplements, dietary and lifestyle changes and retest to determine effectiveness.
Life is a journey, not a destination. No one gets out of here alive, but wouldn’t it be good to live the best quality that you could?
