Sleep Ergonomics
There is an orthopedic cause of pain which can be caused by low-grade repetitive stress from poor ergonomics when you sleep. There is a way to get out of bed properly, and there is a wrong way to get out, too. What a lot of people do is when they’re in bed is jump up quickly; they will kick up their legs. Don’t do that!
Watch as Dr. Burdorf demonstrates how to get out of bed properly.
The safe way to get out of bed is this way: when you are lying on your back, bend your left knee up, put pressure on your left heel and that’s going to get you on your side first. Let your feet go off to the side next, that will take away 50% of your weight, and push up with that arm last. Now that’s how you do it if you roll off the bed to the right.
If you roll off the bed to the left what you are going to do is reverse it. You’re going to bend the right knee, put your right heel down and push, roll on your side first, let the feet go first, and press up with the elbow last.
The way chiropractic works is that you have to get the joints that don’t move to move, and that helps those sprained areas to heal.
